Experience

I have tutored English for two years, and I work as a teaching assistant during the day. I specialise in GCSE English Language and English Literature for the AQA exam board, and I teach Key Stage 3 English to Years 7 to 9 to build the foundations for GCSE.

I sat these exams myself, with a grade 9 in English Literature, a grade 8 in English Language and an A in A level English Literature, so I know what the examiners are looking for from both sides of the desk.

How I teach

A safe and creative environment is something every student deserves. My passion for English and my understanding of psychology help me see each student's learning needs and deliver tuition that fits them. I want every student to feel relaxed and confident enough to ask questions.

The first lesson is about getting to know the student and understanding their strengths and challenges. Together we build a rough plan and a progress trajectory, with goals to hit every six months. I ask to see the student's English reports from school, because tracking and understanding progress is essential.

Homework is set according to the student's needs; for Years 10 and 11 it is standard. If a student gets stuck on homework between lessons, they can reach me by phone, WhatsApp or email and I am happy to help.

Safeguarding

I hold an enhanced DBS check. Every lesson is one-to-one over Google Meet, booked and recorded in the parent portal, and parents can see every lesson and all of my written feedback.
