GCSE English Language (AQA)
Reading unseen fiction and non-fiction closely, writing to describe, narrate, explain and argue, and the timed exam technique that turns understanding into marks. Most students take this alongside English Literature; some come for the one paper they find hard.
GCSE English Literature (AQA)
The set texts, the poetry anthology and the unseen poetry question, with the essay structure and quotation work that examiners reward. The texts I teach:

- The Power and Conflict poetry anthology
Key Stage 3 English, Years 7 to 9
Building the foundations for GCSE:
- Reading, comprehension and analysis skills

- An introduction to GCSE-level literary texts
How a run of lessons goes
The first lesson is for getting to know the student and understanding their strengths and challenges. Together we build a rough plan and a progress trajectory, with goals to hit every six months. I ask to see the student's English reports from school so that progress is tracked against what the school sees too.
Homework is set according to the student's needs, and is standard for Years 10 and 11. If a student gets stuck on it between lessons, they can reach me by phone, WhatsApp or email and I am happy to help. After every lesson my written feedback appears on the lesson page in the parent portal.
